Open House Today

Signs are out today and we are ready for another onslaught of people coming through our home. Had showings yesterday and haven't heard yet whether they are going to give us an offer or not. Will follow up with the realtor on Monday. Just sitting in the office right now waiting for the first person to come in. I have fixed the Google Maps link. Thank you. It was pretty cool sitting downstairs watching the segment in high definition. I didn't even hear the phone ringing it is so quiet down here. I wonder if it is quieter since Ultra Floors came in and refinished the cherry wood upstairs. I know they put 5 coats down. I would bet that it is sound deadening to a certain degree. Anyhow, Lauren is upstairs watching Sesame Street and I am down here watching Regis and Kelly. I love that I cannot hear whats going on upstairs. This basement really rocks.

Kerry is upstairs getting ready, we will have a busy day today. It's Wednesday and we hope things will calm down soon. I really need to cut our grass one more time. I need to find the time to get that final cut done before it gets too cold. I always make sure to lower the lawnmower a notch for the last cut. I think that is one of the things I do to make sure my lawn is the first one to green up in the spring.

Tuesday night

I am spending time with my oldest daughter tonight playing in the basement with balloons. She is running me ragged since we have a lot of room in the finished part of the basement. The other part of the basement has a ton of storage but Lauren still doesn't open the doors since it is off limits.

Once she goes to sleep I will turn off the lights and watch movies completely in the dark since the finished portion of the basement doesn't have windows. This place rocks...

I have everything all set up in the Great room now. I can blast the music at levels that can be heard across the street. With the capability of sending sound to all regions of our house from the great room It is possible to have clarity of sound across the street with the right equipment.

I will end this post since Kerry and I have to give our kids a bath upstairs. The best thing about that is we have the marble counter tops and they are very durable. They put up with everything we do upstairs. They "ROCK". Pun intended...

Exhausted!!!

Had the open house/ garage sale on Sunday. It was a gloomy day but we still managed to sell a lot of stuff.
We had 4 people walk through the house. I base my success rate pretty differently than Good Morning America. I spent time with 3 people that may be interested in our home. I would discount the first couple since they need a ranch. I am tired and will now go to sleep. have a great day ,

We are just about ready for Good Morning America to come in to our home again on Sunday. We have been cleaning since I came home from work today. Maureen and Wendy from ABC and the Wall Street Journal showed up around 6:40pm and spent about an hour walking through our home and talking about what will be going on tomorrow. They will show up around 7am and start shooting the outdoor shots as well as the interview with Wendy.

I went to Fed Ex/Kinkos and made all the copies of the fliers to hand out during the open house. I hope we have a great turnout tomorrow as we really would like to have some traffic. People really need to see our home in order to appreciate the value they are getting.

I have everything upstairs ready for the garage sale and will most certainly find more items in the morning. The house is spotless. I would probably not have a problem eating off the floors.

I want to continue the thanks to ULTRA FLOORS IN CLINTON TOWNSHIP MICHIGAN AND TO MICHIGAN BLINDS FOR REALLY STEPPING UP TO THE PLATE AND DONATING THE MATERIALS AND LABOR FOR OUR HOME. I appreciate the opportunity afforded to me by these admirable people. As a former business owner I know how word of mouth is and I will be referring these individuals to everyone that I come across that has a need for their services.

I need to get some sleep. I am running on just about 4 hours now and will need to get a little refreshed before the film crew comes tomorrow.

Day 4

Today was a long day. We had the Blinds installed and Hagopian Carpets came out and cleaned and Scotch guarded. Tom from Michigan Blinds was pleasant and efficient. I highly recommend Tom for your window treatments. He is very timely and pleasant to work with. We also moved the furniture back in to the house. We have to do some dusting and set up the stereo equipment and we should be ready to rock and roll.

I hope this house sells but I will miss a lot of things about it. I will miss the pre wired rooms. The stereo in the bedroom really is great. I will also miss the Kitchen. The Kitchen is the best room in the house I think. It has Antique Labrador Granite counter tops, Tumbled Durango tile back splash, Absolute black Granite Island and all the lighting to make it stand out.

I will also greatly miss the finished basement. It is perfect for entertaining and for just chilling out. Take a look.

Day 3

Well we had great success with the film crew on Wednesday. They were here all day and it was really a lot of fun. Kerry and Lauren were great, Lindsay was good too but she is pretty much unaware of what is going on.

Michigan Blinds will be here today to put some blinds in the Master Bathroom, Kitchen and the Dining room area. Tom is a member of the SUnrise Networking Group also and has chosen to donate his time and materials to help us sell our home.



I would have to say that with a community like we have here why wouldn't anyone want to live here. Just looking how people will step up and help a family like ours, who aren't really having a tremendously hard time, is really a portrait of how strong they are both in business and personally. I really thank everyone since we really didn't expect this at all. I know everyone is aware that we need to sell this home, But to step up to the plate and complete these things for us pro bono will never be forgotten. I want to thank TERESA at ULTRA FLOORS and her crew including Stefan, TOM at MICHIGAN BLINDS and THE ORIGINAL HAGOPIAN for cleaning our carpets and rugs. I recommend them since they are the best and most timely service I have experienced in Michigan.

Today was a great day. I got to work and sold a vehicle. That rocks!!!
Once I got home Kerry the kids and I had dinner. Just after dinner our Friends Ian and George came over to help put the house back together before the taping tomorrow. We moved the majority of the furniture back into the house without even putting a scratch on the floors. We will be starting the YouTube video shortly and that will be edited and put up on that site too. I will create a link to that site soon.

We will be starting the video and then taping some cleaning for the camera crew for tomorrow morning. We are exhausted at this whole endeavor. I don't know how much sleep we will get tonight though. Probably not much.

Day 1

The floors have been started. The first and second coat of the sealer have been applied by the fine people at Ultra Floors out of Clinton Township, Michigan. Thank You to all the guys that helped us out in this endeavor. The fact that they are helping the effort to sell our home by performing the work Pro Bono is amazing and totally appreciated. I highly recommend them to anyone. they sanded and got 2 coats down in one day. That is amazing especially with a minimal amount of dust in the home. The only thing I had to do was vacuum out the vents and the baseboards. Thanks to Dennis at Professional Hardwood Distributers for graciously donating the supplies for the finished product. Our gratitude will certainly reward you with plenty of referrals.

We have a hard couple of days ahead. We will be bringing all the furniture back in to the house tomorrow evening and then back out Wednesday evening as the Ultra Floors crew will be back in to put the top coat on the floors.

Yes it seems extreme but we want the camera crew to be able to document the home as much as possible as it normally is.

The film crew will arrive Wednesday morning and stay with us for the entire day to document everything in the home and then go to my work and film some of the things I do on a daily basis. This will be interesting.

Kerry and I are totally exhausted and cannot wait to see if this will result in the ultimate sale of our home. I would imagine the exhaustion will only get worse from this point forward. I will keep you posted as to the progress in the home.

Working Late

I am exausted today. I have been moving furniture into the garage so the crew from Ultra Floors in Clinton Township can start the refinishing of the Brazilian Cherry Hardwood that encompasses virtually all of the first floor.

I had planned on spending the money for the floor project when we decided to put our home up for sale. I am so gratefull to the fine folks at Ultra Floors as they have chosen to donate thier time and materials. I was "floored" that Theresa and Stefani stepped up in such a desparate situation. I will be up early to start working again as the crew is due to arrive at 8:30.

I already patched up some of the holes I have chosen to fix. I will paint them after the floors are complete. Kerry will need to be out of the house all day as the dust will certainly be flying. I will be stopping in to help the guys out and bring some lunch and refreshments to them.
